Visa (regional visa) approval for remote areas has fallen to its lowest level in a decade, according to ABC, Australia and Guangzhou, as the federal government prepares to launch a new plan to require new immigrants to work outside major Australian cities for five years.
So is this a good thing for immigrants? Not at all!

After all, according to the current visa rules in remote areas: "only" the applicant is required to stay in remote areas for a two-year waiting period.
The new visa requirement is: from 2 years to 5 years!
In other words, the appeal behind the policy is to allow migrants to stay in remote areas for longer.
