Tens of thousands of international students have stayed in Australia with native marry, sparking calls for urgent reform of the spouse visa system.

According to the avant-head solar report, the latest report points out that in the west, only guarantee, australia`s foreign partner, has a very loose condition.

The report of the Australian Population Research Institute, for example, says that even a 18-year-old Australian resident, who is unemployed, lives on welfare relief, lives in his parents` house, is still eligible for guarantee for a spouse or partner. Even migrants who have just obtained permanent residency in Australia are also eligible.

Bob Birrell, the author of the report, said that about 40,000 spouse visas were issued in Australia last year, accounting for a quarter of the total number of immigrant projects, with an additional 7.9 million applications pending. It`s very unusual.

Dr. Erbil said: "The number of registered marry in Australia in 2017 is 11.2 million, and the size of this (spouse-visa) number is even more dramatic."

Dr. Erbil points out that temporary visa holders, especially international students, are using a weak spouse visa. Otherwise, in view of the relatively strict requirements of the technical visa, it is difficult for them to obtain permanent residence.

Between 2017 and 18, Australia received the most spouse visas from China (1624), followed by Vietnamese (982), Thai (591), Indian (526) and British (336).

The most common misconception, Dr. Birrell said, is that applicants for spouse visas are mainly lovers who travel and work abroad. However, most spouse visa winners are actually former temporary visa holders, or "recently arrived in Australia, Asia-born" residents return to their countries of origin to choose a partner their family or community knows.

Dr. Erbil was of the view that, as most of the spouses had settled in Sydney and Melbourne, the burden of migration in both cities was greatly increased. In addition, few of them have working skills or English skills to develop in the Australian labour market.

Dr. Erbil has called for a range of measures to prevent the use of a spouse visa policy, such as the prohibition of the application of a visa for a spouse in Australia, including foreign students and tourists, in Australia.
