According to the latest research from the national university of australia, new immigrants from the leve remote to the big city have grown more and more. This is not uncommon 30 years ago.

Key points:

Some migrants live and work in remote areas for different reasons, while others live and work in remote areas

Australia`s government has introduced a series of policies to attract immigrants to remote areas, but it has not worked yet. The population in remote areas of Australia continues to decline, while the population in big cities continues to rise.

Dr. Bernard Baffour, a population expert at the Australian National University, found that more than 60%of new immigrants from certain countries left their original destination within five years. In fact, this is not rare in the Chinese community.

Anne du: the main reason for the re-migration is to study for the children.

The reasons why people migrate again after emigrating to Australia vary, either because of the living environment or because of employment problems, and others move out because of transportation difficulties.

Anne du (Annie Du, from Shenyang, now based in Melbourne, told Australian broadcaster ABC that her leave Adelaide went to Melbourne mainly for her children to study.

Anne emigrated to Adelaide in 2006 and found a financial job with her former major six months later. After that, she studied in (TAFE), vocational education college, and received a professional certificate in finance.

After four years in Adelaide, Anne`s family moved to Melbourne, the capital of Victoria.

Anne said Adelaide was scenic and found a job at the time, and the main reason for leave was not for herself.

"I actually like Adelaide. I went to Melbourne mainly for my children," she said.

Anne thought, "I want my children to go to a better public high school, and they want to be admitted to the University of Melbourne. Because they haven`t bought house yet, they think about better development in the future [moving to other cities]."

After moving to Melbourne, Anne`s children successfully attended (Balwyn High School), a famous public school, and admitted to the University of Melbourne. As for Annie herself, she has also found a better professional job and has been working in a furniture company for eight years.

Helen Palace: "do not leave without abandoning" to Adelaide.

There are quite a few immigrants like Anne who have moved to big cities such as Melbourne or Sydney after settling in remote areas for a few years. But there are also people who are very satisfied with their lives in remote areas and are reluctant to move to more hustle and bustling big cities.

Helen Gong (Helen Gong, a senior real estate investment adviser, told ABC that she had been working and living there for about 13 years since she emigrated to Adelaide from Dalian.

In 2006, Helen and Mr. Helen received a government guarantee skilled immigration visa from their hometown of Dalian to Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, in remote areas of government guarantee, South Australia.

Under the requirements of the Helen family`s visa, visa holders can move to other areas after years of working and living in the guarantee state where they emigrate. But the Helen family took root when they arrived in Adelaide and lived for more than a decade.

"I`ve been living in Adelaide since I emigrated, and I like it here," Helen said.

Helen said she and her family did not have Adelaide in a remote area of leave because of the atmosphere, work and social circle.

"whether it`s the environment, traffic or habits, Dalian and Adelaide are very similar and feel very kind," she said.

In addition, Helen also said that her family has been in Adelaide for many years, I found a professional job that I like and has good prospects, but also have a local Time line, so I do not want to mess around and go to strange cities to develop.

Remote areas are not remote

Anne and Helen came to Adelaide as a technical immigrant from the state of the remote state.

Australia`s officially defined remote area of (Regional Area) is far from what people think, especially beyond the urban areas of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. As a result, state capitals such as Adelaide are also remote areas.

In addition, according to the Australian Department of the Interior website, for some categories of state and territory government guarantee remote areas of immigration visa holders, the capital Canberra and Victoria`s second largest city, Gilon (Geelong), are remote areas that can be settled.

Government defines these places, which are not actually desolate, as remote areas to attract migrants and promote their development.

The policy of attracting immigrants has not worked

Australia`s government has been trying to develop remote areas with new immigrants for years and has introduced a series of immigration policies. For example, the remote state government guarantee independent skilled immigration visa (457 type visa) and the current remote area employer guarantee immigration visa (type 187 visa)

In January, Australia launched the second edition of the designated District Immigration Agreement (Designated Area Migration Agreements, DAMA II), which identified local employers in the Northern Territory as able to bring in skilled workers from overseas to fill 117skilled jobs. In March, Australian Prime Minister Morrison said he wanted more skilled immigrants to move to remote areas to ease population pressure in cities such as Sydney and Melbourne.

However, some of government`s responses have not worked, according to a study by the Australian National University.

"the visas they hold when they enter the country require them to settle outside the capital, where they need labor and special skills, but they do not live long in these places," Dr. Bafur said.

He also said the data showed that government`s latest attempt to attract migrants to remote areas had not worked.

"The opposite is what we see in the data,", he said.

A study by the National University of data over the past 35 years shows that the population in rural and remote areas continues to decline, while the urban population continues to rise.

New immigrants are welcome in many remote areas, but it is difficult to keep them, the study said. Pilbala (Pilbara) of Western Australia, for example, is one of the hardest places to retain new immigrants.

"We need to increase social, economic and educational opportunities in remote areas, or they will be as difficult to retain the local population as they have been for the past 35 years," Dr. Bafur said.

Interestingly, the study also found that immigrants from different countries had their own preferences for their destination. For example, Chinese-born immigrants prefer Sydney as the destination for immigrants; Indian-born immigrants have a preference for Melbourne; British-born immigrants like Perth; and New Zealand immigrants prefer Brisbane.
