Employers need to advertise locally for at least four weeks before applying for employment abroad.

Labour market testing regulations have become law, meaning employers must ensure that no Australians can fill vacancies before they can hire foreigners, the Aussie news agency reported.

Mr Tucci (Alan Tudge), the minister for civil affairs, said the goverment had long intended to pursue such a policy. Amendments proposed by the Senate have been accepted today in order to formalize the reform into law.

The new policy requires companies to advertise their jobs locally for at least four weeks before applying for employment. And employers have to advertise for at least four months before applying for a temporary skills shortage visa for the job.

"companies can only nominate someone (overseas) for a job without an Australian being able to fill a particular job," Tucci said.

The reform was opposed by Labour in the early debate in the House of Representatives. But Newman (Shayne Neumann), Labour spokesman for immigration, today welcomed and welcomed the move, noting that the Labour Party "has always firmly believed that employers who nominate overseas workers should be tested on the labour market."

Goverment also approved a review of (Skilling Australians Fund), the Australian Vocational skills Fund, 18 months later, at the request of (Nick Xenophon Team), the central coalition party formerly known as the "Shenofeng team Party" (Nick Xenophon Team), in response to a request by the goverment to conduct a review of the Aussie Vocational skills Fund 18 months later.

Employers who employ foreign workers will pay A $1800 a year for each temporary foreign worker employed and A $5000 per permanent worker. The tax will fall under the Australian Vocational skills Fund to cover skills training and apprenticeship costs.
