People living in Melbourne may feel like returning to their hometowns when they go to City for a walk, because there are Chinese figures all over the place.
I believe we all have one question: how many Chinese immigrants are born in Australia and live in Australia?
Immigrants from China rank second in the country after England, according to the latest Bureau of Statistics data from Australia.
According to 2018 statistics, there are currently 7 million immigrants living in Australia, with the highest percentage of those born in England, with 992000 immigrants living in Australia, accounting for 4% of the population.
Chinese-born immigrants came in second, at 651000, or 2.6% of the population.
India followed, with nearly six hundred thousand Indian immigrants (592000) living in Australia.
Among the top 10 are New Zealand, Philippines, Vietnam, South Africa, Italy, Malaysia and Scotland.
Chinese immigrants are significantly different in age from England in the first Republic of China.
The median age of Chinese immigrants is 34, while the median age of English immigrants is 56.
Chinese immigrants of this age group will undoubtedly contribute more to Australia`s economic.
Australia`s Bureau of Statistics Assistant Director-General Neil Scott said that Australian society is made up of multiculturalism, which is also one of Australia`s core concepts.
Australia can be the second hometown of the people of any country in the world.
Although Australia continues to absorb immigrants, as the world`s sixth-largest country, population density is extremely low.
China has a population density of 143.30 (an average of 143.3 people per square kilometer), compared with 3.14 in Australia, ranking 56th in the world.
But Australia`s population grew nearly 2% last year, the highest increase in five years.
Facing too fast population growth and easing the pressure on core cities, the government has cut immigration quotas by as much as 30, 000 this year!
Australia currently has an annual quota of one hundred and ninety thousand.
Starting from July this year, the entire immigration quota will be drastically reduced by 300, 000! Down to only one hundred and sixty thousand!
It will also be the first time since 2010 that Australia`s government has cut immigration quotas for the first time in eight years.
And is promoting the "go up and down the countryside" policy.
Under policy pressure, it will take time to see whether the proportion of Chinese immigrants in the future will be affected.
Number of compatriots in Melbourne
According to the census data from Bureau of Statistics, Australia, Xiao Wei has produced the first map of his fellow citizens in Melbourne:

Melbourne has two districts, and the number of Chinese / immigrants is higher than that of Australians! Yes! More!
They`re Melbourne CBD and Clayton..
This is Melbourne`s real Chinese district.
Twenty-four percent of Melbourne CBD people are from China;
- 10133 migrants in mainland, or 24.4 per cent
- 22.7% of Australian births
- District population: 41528
27% of Clayton`s people are from China.
- 4961 mainland immigrants, or 27.1 per cent
- Australia birth 26.1%
- District population: 18307
This situation is probably because of the number of students in the two districts, so the composition of nationality is very diverse.
If Melbourne`s Chinese immigrants want to find more home flavor, may as well refer to this list!
