According to the SBS, there will be a series of changes to Australia's visa rules in the new fiscal year, including a reduction in the age limit for spouses of skilled immigrants and a rise in fees for credit card payments.

Capital Territory applicant

One of the new rules, which will soon come into effect, is for visa applicants in the capital territories. As of July 1, 2018, the Capital Territory goverment will require applicants to submit all the required documents.

"if the applicant or intermediary fails to provide any of the required documents, the application form / letter of intent (expressions of interest) will evaluate that the applicant was' unsuccessful'." Qualified visa consultant Pritt (Chaman Preet) said.

Previously, the applicant did not need to submit all the required documents when applying. These documents can be provided at the request of Visa Officer (case officer).

From next month, however, if an applicant omits any document, the visa officer may reject the application without having to submit a document to the applicant.

Other states can follow suit, says Mohan (Rohit Mohan), an immigration agency. "given the heavy workload [of visa officers], other states will soon follow suit."

Skilled immigrant spouse

Under existing regulations, an applicant's spouse may receive a 5-point bonus from his spouse's skills assessment if he or she is under 50 years of age.

Starting July 1, the age limit for skilled immigrant spouses to apply for points will be lowered to under 45.

"the maximum age at which an applicant can apply for a spouse (spouse) or a de facto marriage (de facto) partner bonus is from (under) 50 to (under) 45, which will have a significant impact on many applicants who wish to receive a five-point bonus." Pritt said.

Credit card charges

The fee rate for all applicants to pay by credit card will be raised from 0.98% to 1.32%. Mohan does not think this is a major reform, but one should pay attention to it.

South Australia applicant

At present, for applicants in the state-guaranteed category 132 visa "significant business background (Significant Business History)" sub-category, whether or not the products or services exported by South Australia goverment is "in the interest of the state" (Benefit to State, abbreviated as BTS) is required. As of July 1, The requirements will be expanded.

BTS requirements will vary according to the applicant's age, type of business and location.

Applicants under the age of 55 who do not have a regional franchise must export at least A $600000 in goods or services (turnover). If the total value of exports is less than A $1 million, wine cannot be the majority.
