At the foot of the National Park, hidden deep in Melbourne's far East suburb of Yarra Junction, there is another elegant cave-the Blue Lotus Water Garden Blue Lotus Aquatic Garden.
It is a garden dominated by aquatic plants, with thousands of exotic lotus and water lilies, the world's largest lily, hundreds of banana trees and many other beautiful plants, and dozens of artificial lakes and ponds. Lagoon and even waterfall.
Each year, the owners, Geoff and Yvonne Cochrane, open the beautiful, tranquil 14-acre water garden where visitors can find a new world of colorful lotus and water lilies from now on until April 22.
Highlights of the Blue Lotus Water Garden
Lake Mona, Monet's Lake.
One of the features of the water garden is Lake Mona, the largest lake in the garden, with 11 million litres of water. There are more than 70 kinds of water lilies in the lake, including those of French Impressionist painter Monet in the garden of Giveni's residence. Every year the lotus blossoms, here reproduces Monet's painting on Water Lotus.
Lotus Lake and the Golden Lotus
The largest lotus in the garden is here, with tens of thousands of lotus flowers competing, including Carolina, Queens, (Carolina Queen Lotus), and Wong, Lotus, (Cream Lutea). Visitors can stroll along sandy trails in the shade of banana and palm trees to enjoy the beauty of sage, impatiens, succulent plants and plantain lilies. The beauty of Lotus Lake makes people reluctant to move their eyes away!
Another surprise on the walkway was the Golden Lotus Show. The golden lotus was cultivated by Geoff Cochrane with ancient lotus seeds introduced from China nearly 20 years ago. It has more petals, larger disk, 88 petals, symbolizing festive and rich! Golden Lotus grows in an independent pond on the east side of Lotus Lake and will bloom from February to March.
Giant Amazon Water Lotus Giants of the Amazon
Giant Amazon water lilies are on display at (Tropical World Complex), the tropical showroom where the largest known species of water lilies, including the hybrid (Victoria Longwood)., is on display. Known for having the largest leaf of any aquatic plant, these amazing water lilies can be more than 2 meters in diameter and have larger flowers than a dish.
The Ancient Japanese Lotus-Oga Lotus
Do you know? Lotus has existed for thousands of years, even longer than dinosaurs. In the Japanese ponds of the water garden, visitors will see one of the oldest known lotus varieties, believed to be more than 2000 years old. The ancient lotus flower was discovered in 1951 by Dr. Ichiro Oga, a Japanese botanist, during an archaeological excavation on the Hanamigawa River in Chiba City. Dr. Oga succeeded in finding three ancient lotus seeds in a sleeping quagmire, one of which survived and bloomed the following year. So people have to see the old lotus look, this is known as the world-famous big Helene (Oga Lotus). The Blue Lotus Water Garden is blessed with lotus seeds and roots here, and visitors are blessed with their eyes.
Flower Fairy Garden Flower Fairy Garden
The Flower Fairy Garden is located on the shore of the anemone lagoon, (Silver Lotus Lagoon), with dreamy little house, rainbow slide and wishing well. Every day there are "monster goldfish" feeding, garden adventure and other activities during the school holiday, and flower fairies show up every weekend. The best part is, the kids get in for free! The children will fall in love with this amazing fairy tale world!
The Blue Lotus Water Garden also features coffee shops, ice cream shops, gift shops, picnics and barbecue areas, as well as Australia's best lotus and water lotus nurseries. Choose a sunny day, order a cup of coffee in a cafe by the lake, enjoy the picturesque water, spend a beautiful day in the green mountains and flowers!
