The average cost of a romantic night in Australia is $145, according to a new study that analyzed dating spending in major Australian cities so far and ranked from the most expensive to the cheapest.
While many of the good things in life are free, spending a romantic night with someone you love can cost you a lot of savings.
According to a survey conducted by Elite Singles, a marriage service, Australians spend an average of 145 yuan a night on romance.
The study defines a "typical dating night" as a mid-range dinner, a bottle of wine, two movie tickets and an 8-kilometer taxi home.
Sydney is the most expensive city to spend on dating in Australia, according to the survey of the elite singles at the matchmaking agency.
Sydney's people who want to have fun in the city are expected to spend $15 more than the Australian average on dating nights and those living in Melbourne spend an average of $158 a date, according to the survey.
Dating fees are ranked in 14 Australian cities:

2. Victoria Melbourne: $158
3. Tata State Horbart: $156
4. Capital Territory Canberra: $152
5. Western Australia Perth: $149
6. Queensland Brisbane: $146
7. Queensland Cairns: $145

You're expected to pay $156 for a date at Hobart (Hobart) and $152 for (Canberra) in Canberra.
The study found that not all capital cities were expensive on a date, with Adelaide at a reasonable price of 136 yuan.
Other lower-cost places include Geelong (133yuan a night) and Toowoomba (136a night).
In the middle, Brisbane and Gold Coast cost 146 yuan a night, compared with 145 yuan for the same date in Keynes, and a couple in Canberra, Australia, is expected to spend 152 yuan on a romantic night.
Dubo, in new state, is rated as the cheapest city to date so far, where couples spend just $123 less than Sydney's $37.
In addition to analyzing the cost of dating across Australian cities, the survey looked at the average cost of dating in some of the world's largest cities, the most expensive romantic night in the Norwegian capital Oslo.
There, a date costs 241 yuan, an eye-popping 13 yuan more than the second place in London, which costs 228 yuan.
In third place was New York, whose $204 dating price made it the most expensive city yet in North America.
