Old Timers Mine is located in the inland desert of South Australia, the small town of Coober Pedy., known as the "underground city".
Coober Pedy is rich in opal (Opal, Opel, Australian gemstones, etc.), known as (Opal Capital of The World), the world's capital of Aober. Coober Pedy is located in desert areas, and many of the buildings here are built underground or dug into caves. So Coober Pedy also has the name "underground city".
Old Timers Mine is the iconic attraction of Coober Pedy. The site, transformed from abandoned mines, is divided into gift shops and museums, where visitors can buy locally produced, absolutely authentic Opal gems. While the museum shows the local history of opal mining, visitors have a better chance to try out the real work and life of miners and get a different experience. In addition, there are three daily (9-30, 13-30, 15-30) mining machinery work shows are also very attractive.
