Introduction of Fairey Firefly Monument

Fairey Firefly Monument is located in Griffith, a small town in (Riverina region), southeast New South Wales, in front of the Griffith tourist Information Center in (Griffith Visitor Information Centre).

Designed in 1941 by the British company (Fairey), the firefly fighter is a multi-purpose fighter capable of carrying out a variety of missions such as combat, attack, reconnaissance, night fighter and anti-submarine. Firefly fighters produced a total of 1623 aircraft. They are in use in Britain, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands.

In Griffith, a real firefly Firefly fighter is held on a metal stand, a symbol of history that reminds the world of the value of peace, which has become one of Griffith's marks. The firefly plane was built in 1950 and retired from 1956.
