Introduction of Yarrie Lake

Yarrie Lake is located on the western outskirts of Narrabri, an inland town in northern New South Wales, about 30 kilometers from the center of Narrabri.

Yarrie Lake covers an area of about 45 hectares, is a U ring lake, located in the vast Piriga bushes (Pilliga Scrub) edge zone, the water quality is clear, the environment is beautiful, is the paradise of countless birds and animals, there are more than 60 species of birds living here, the origin of the lake is still a mystery, some scholars believe that it was formed by meteorite impact on the earth, but this view has yet to be verified.


Notes on Yarrie Lake activities:

  • In Yarrie Lake can be engaged in: catching crayfish, water skiing, swimming, sailing and bird watching;
  • Campsites with and without power supply on the lake are available and need to be booked in advance.
  • Fishing here is not allowed;
  • Pets are not allowed to be carried;
  • Before sailing, please call the Narabri Visitor Information Center (Narrabri Visitor Information Centre) to obtain the required yacht permission.
