D’Entrecasteaux National Park

D’Entrecasteaux National Park, D’Entrecasteaux Drive, Windy Harbour WA 6262, Australia

Introduction of D’Entrecasteaux National Park

D'Entrecasteaux National Park is in the southern state of Western Australia, along the southern coastline near North Cliffe and the small town of Pemberton, about 65km from Pemberton and 380km from Perth, the capital of Western Australia, covering 1,187.79 sq km.

D'Entrecasteaux National Park boasts unparalleled wilderness landscapes, with pristine beaches and handsome woods. Here, you can enjoy camping, driving a four-wheel drive, walking through lush green forests or walking along winding coastal trails. National Park Beach fishing experience is excellent, but can also enjoy fishing in one of several river and estuary systems that are distributed throughout the park.

Among the other impressive natural features within D'Entrecasteaux National Park are the hexagonal basalt pillar at Black Point, formed by a 1.35 million-year-old lava stream, and the 10-kilometer stretch of Lake Iglep dunes, the largest eastern dune system in the southern hemisphere, entering the forest at an average annual rate of 4 metres east. And inland areas include a range of lakes and swamps, including Lake Yeagarup and Lake Jasper, the largest freshwater lake in the southern half. As the yegalpka dunes move with the weather, visitors must bring maps and compasses to experience the natural landscape of the original. Camping facilities are available on the western beaches of Lake Iglep, Yeagarup Beach, Carey Brook and Walpole in the National Park.

Note: D'Entrecasteaux National Park is rugged and accessible only for four-wheel-drive vehicles; in addition, due to geographical remoteness, it is essential to be well-prepared for entry.
