Chambers Pillar

Chambers Pillar, Hugh NT 0872, Australia

Introduction of Chambers Pillar

Chambers Pillar is located in a remote inland area in the southern part of the Northern Territory, about 160km from the Ellis Springs (Alice Springs), the second-largest city in the Northern Territory.

Chambers Pillar is a pillar of stone towering above the (Simpson Desert) plain of the Simpson Desert, about 50 meters high, formed by years of weathering and erosion by Rain Water, which has been standing in the wilderness for 350 million years.

John McDulle Stuart (John McDouall Stuart), the first European to discover Chambers Pillar, arrived in April 1860 and named James Chambers (James Chambers), a sponsor of Australia south of Stonehenge. Since then, countless tourists have come to visit, and have carved their names on the base of the pillars at the bottom of the pillars. A fenced path has been built on the bottom of the pillars, and visitors can see the huge pillars at the bottom of the pillars. Nothing is more fun than engraving your name on a pillar to prove that you have seen the mysterious boulder.

Chambers Pillar is located in remote inland areas, only four-drive can enter, the journey is difficult, tourists need to be prepared in advance. At the same time, you can visit the nearby rainbow valley reserve (Rainbow Valley Conservation Reserve).
