Adelaide Fringe Festival

North Terrace, Adelaide SA 5000, Australia

Introduction of Adelaide Fringe Festival

The annual Adelaide Fringe Festival, which runs for a month at the end of February, is one of the seven festivals in Australia and one of the most grand festivals in Adelaide.

Adelaide Fringe Festival, founded in 1960 by Sir Lloyd Thomas (Sir Lloyd Dumas) and Professor John Bi Xiaopu (John Bishop) of Adelaide University, was conceived as the rudiment of the Edinburgh International Arts Festival (Edinburgh International Festival), and has been around for nearly 70 years. Early years are held every two years, and since 2012 they will be held on an annual basis.

Adelaide Fringe Festival is a cultural feast during the month, when Adelaide will be filled with outdoor theaters, art exhibitions, street shows, dance shows, bar songs and dances, film screenings and live music. The nature of the city's unrestrained nature has been brought to its full play. The world's best jugglers, magicians, steel-walking acrobats, escape actors, high-altitude acrobats and comedians will all be here. And at the legendary opening party, Australia's best DJ will awaken all the long-dormant enthusiasm of the audience.

Adelaide Fringe Festival programs are rich and vary from year to year, and some of the most important are:

  • The (Tindo utpurndee): Sunset ceremony, originally a celebration of the indigenous peoples of South Australia, has now evolved into an opening ceremony for the Eassel Festival. The ceremony was hosted by indigenous sheikhs or respectable elderly people. The 2017 opening ceremony drew more than 1000 viewers to witness the start of the festival on the lawn of the South Australian Museum of (South Australian Museum).
  • (Fringe Parade): is Australia's largest art parade, with more than 1500 artists and more than 80 marching teams in 2017, transforming the (North Terrace) area of Adelaide North Street into a spectacular and mysterious procession. The night market starts at 5 p.m., pre-parade entertainment starts at 7:30 and the official parade starts at 8:30
