CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope is located in the northern suburb of Parkes, a small town in (The Central West), west-central New South Wales, about 25 kilometers from the heart of Parkes.
CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope, part of the Federal Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO,Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization), which has a 64-meter diameter telescope, has been in operation since 1961 and is one of the hallmarks of astronomical science in Australia. The observatory is free of charge and contains coffee shops.
