Woomera

Introduction of Woomera

Woomera is a small town in the middle of South Australia, on the (Stuart Hwy) side of Stewart Highway, about 490km south from Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. It's about 380km by car from the small town of Cuperpedi (Coober Pedy), which is known as "underground city" to the north.

The town of Woomera is very small and has a permanent population of less than 200 people, but more importantly, Woomera is the missile base of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAF) (RAAF), which is a major aerospace system testing area administered by the Australian Ministry of Defence. Covering more than 120000 square kilometers, the town of Woomera is part of the base.

Unlike the rest of the missile base, the town of Woomera is open to the public, with restaurants, post offices, hotels and other public facilities, and (Woomera Heritage & Visitor Information Centre), the historic heritage and tourist center of Woomera, showcasing rockets of various sizes and sizes. Aircraft and weapons, tourists are free to take photos, for those who like military tourists will be the treasure.
