Colac is a small town located inland in the south of Victoria, about 150 kilometers from the Victoria capital Melbourne and about 75 kilometers from the small town of Campbell Harbor (Port Campbell) on the famous Ocean Road (Great Ocean Road).
Located on Lake Korak (Lake Colac), Colac is a quiet and wealthy town with beautiful scenery and pleasant climate. The town, where gold miners have settled since 1854, has grown to today's size, with buildings that retain a large part of the victorian style, and lake collak, home to many waterbirds, is perfect for bird watching and picnicking.
Colac is well known for ocean road, which is a must if you choose to return inland to melbourne.
