A male passenger dived into the sea Monday night on a cruise ship heading to waters between Australia and New Zealand, the Daily Mail reported.
Later Monday night, Princess Cruise`s Golden Princess (Golden Princess) finished a 13-day trip on its way back to Melbourne in Oakland. During the period, a 22-year-old male passenger dived into the sea missing, in search of the passenger, the cruise ship stopped sailing.
The missing man is from Cranburn (Cranbourne)., southeast of Melbourne. Unable to determine his location, the captain sought the consent of Australia`s government to continue his journey back to Australia without finding the passenger.
In a statement Tuesday afternoon, (Victoria Police), the state police, said police had seen nothing suspicious about the man`s death by looking at surveillance footage on board the ship.
The man should have disappeared in the sea between Australia and New Zealand around 2 a.m. on Monday, the statement said.
It is understood that the cruise ship departed from Melbourne on January 10, arrived in New Zealand on January 13, and toured the islands in the north and south of the country for seven days. The ship carried more than 3000 people, 2600 of whom were guests and more than 1000 crew members. The vessel is expected to arrive in Melbourne on Wednesday morning.
