Melbourne was once the most livable city in the world, according to the Herald Sun, but for the second year in a row, Melbourne ranks second in the world`s livable cities, while Sydney ranks in the top three, according to the latest survey. Australia also has another big state capital city ranking 10.
The Economic Man, Think Tank (EIU), is reported to have conducted an assessment of 140 cities around the world in terms of stability, health care, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure in five categories to identify the world with the best and worst living conditions, and to draw up the latest "Global Liveability Report".
The results show that Vienna, Austria, has become the most livable city in the world for the second year in a row. The report points out that of the five categories, four of the city achieved near-perfect and outstanding results.
The ranking is followed by Melbourne in Australia. The city gained full score (100 points) in health care, education and infrastructure, with a high score of 98.6 in terms of culture and the environment, but a score of 95 points in terms of the stability of crime and terror.
Australia`s other major city, sydney, has made remarkable progress, rising from the fifth to the third in the last. The economics man, Think Tank, said that Sydney`s score on culture and the environment was significantly improved.
Two other cities that entered the first five were Calgary in Japan and Calgary, Canada.
The city of Adelaide, another state city of Australia, is in the 10th place.
It is reported that in the first 20 livable cities, cities from Australia and New Zealand dominate. Of these, Auckland is 12th, Perth 14th, Brisbane 18th.
In other world`s major cities, London and New York have broken lines 48 and 58.
In the worst-livable city, Damascus`s Damascus is the worst, followed by Lagos, Bangladesh, Dhaka and Triolei in Nigeria.
