Suspected bomb at the station triggered panic. Victoria man wanted by police.

Victoria police spokesman Melissa Seach said the transitional crime investigation team hoped to find the man on a motorcycle.

"The police were told that about 6:00 a. m., a man alighted from a train of the Craiglibenn railway station at the North Melbourne railway station, and he was believed to leave a package on the platform and then boarded a train on the Watergate line. The package is on the platform close to the step and looks like an expansion device."

Staff in bomb, Victoria, responded to the situation by declaring the plant safe at around 10:00.

Investigators have released a picture of a man they believe could assist in the investigation. The man, in his thirties, has dark, short hair and olive green complexion.

The man was wearing a dark hat, black coat, black boots and brown trousers.

The man was photographed riding a green scooter, carrying a red and black backpack and wearing a green helmet, police said. People familiar with the matter are requested to call the crime line at 1800 333,000 or visit crimestoppersvic.com.au for information.
