Sydney may be the most expensive city in Australia, but the increase in Sydney is now overtaken by four other Australian cities

Sydney, which has fallen out of the top 50 of the 150 cities in the world, is now down 6.1 percent from last year and only ranked 88th in the world. Melbourne fell 1.6% from last year, ranking 43rd in the world, 61st in Canberra, 76in Hobart, and 82 in Brisbane.

Sydney's gains were well above 89 in Adelaide, which was also the slowest rise in Australian cities among the top 100 on the list. Pace and Darwin only ranked 141st and 146th because of falling house prices.

Overall, global house prices rose 5.5%, the strongest rise in two years

Melbourne's house prices rose 8.2% this year, barely keeping the top 50.

Shenzhen, China, which is up 23.6% in Budapest, 23.4% in Vancouver and 47.4% in the whole year, is far away from Melbourne.
