A Muslim woman in Melbourne has refused to unveil her face in court and will sit in a separate room to hear her terror-related husband tried.

According to the Daily Mail, the husband of a Muslim woman in Melbourne is being tried in (Victorian Supreme Court), the Supreme Court of Victoria, on terrorism charges and has been barred from sitting in court because the Muslim woman refused to unveil her face in court. It will be broadcast live in a separate room.

The woman initially complained about the ban, saying that Nibuka`s veil was the basis of her faith in practice and that any related injunction violated her freedom of religion and her right to take part in public life.

The Buka veil covers the whole head and face, showing only the eyes.

The state`s Supreme Court judge dismissed the Muslim woman`s complaint, stating that spectators should not cover their faces because of court security concerns.

The Muslim woman allegedly offered to remove her veil when she arrived in court to allow security personnel to confirm her identity.

The judge said it was a minimum measure not to wear hats and sunglasses in court and not to cover the face. Although religious freedom and the right to participate in public life are paramount, there are limitations. It may be difficult to identify the spectators who cover their faces if they act improperly.
