A paraglider died yesterday when he crashed into a cliff after taking off at a popular gliding ground in southern Sydney.

According to the report on the 7th, around 3 p.m. on the 27th, a paraglider crashed into a cliff at (Bald Hill Lookout) of (Stanwell Tops) Balder Mount near (Wollongong) in Wolonggang, and emergency rescue workers arrived at the scene.

New state emergency service (NSW Ambulance) speaker later confirmed that the 50-year-old paraglider had died on the spot and the rescue operation turned into a body collection operation.

After taking off from the cliff, the paraglider was blown back into the cliff and fell 170 meters below.

The operation was postponed until Sunday because the area was "fairly difficult to access" and the light was dimming.

Emergency service personnel returned to the scene at 8 a.m. today, while the Polair police helicopter arrived an hour and a half later.

Police helicopters have successfully transported the remains of paragliders to safe areas.
