After winning bail, the hero of the Melbourne attack, Michael Rogers, was surrounded by the media outside Melbourne District Court.


Rogers, 46, was barred from entering the central business district, except for court hearings, solicitor appointments and a comprehensive court service program.

He must comply with the requirements of the plan, including not taking drugs.

Rogers will appear again on Nov. 27.

He volunteered to go to the West Melbourne Police Department on Friday night.

Police accusation him two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and the commission of prosecution offences during bail.

Melbourne District Court heard Rogers broke into a downtown cafe the day before the November 9 attack on Berkshire Street, stealing A $500 from a basket and cash register.

He was also charged with stealing bicycles. (value A $2000)

Legal aid lawyers who represented him this morning said Rogers was homeless and continued to have drug problems.
