A man was stabbed in the neck by a tenant in a sleep in Melbourne in an attack "inspired by the terrorist group ISIS (ISIS)."

According to a report on Radio 9, (Roger Singaravelu), 56, a resident of (Mill Park) in Melbourne`s northeast Mille Park, was stabbed in the neck by his family tenant in his sleep at about 04:25 on Feb. 9, and his 5-year-old daughter was also at the scene. Fortunately, he didn`t get hurt. Singaravilu, who suffered a life-threatening injury, was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital (Royal Melbourne Hospital) for treatment and underwent surgery on the 10th.

The suspect, Soma (Momena Shoma), a 24-year-old from Bangladesh, recently arrived in Australia on a student visa to rent a room at his home in Singaravilu on Feb. 1.

It is reported that Soma was dressed in Muslim Buka burqa robe, was arrested on the spot by the police. The state`s joint anti-terrorism team, (Joint Counter Terrorism Team), has filed allegations of terrorist attacks with Soma. The day before yesterday, Soma appeared briefly at the Melbourne District Court (Melbourne Magistrates Court) hearing, did not apply for bail, and will appear again on May 2. Soma, who was injured in his right arm, will receive medical treatment while in detention.

Police say Soma is studying at (La Trobe University), University in La Trobe University. Police have searched her room in Singaravilu and a property she previously stayed in (Bundoora).

The state`s acting deputy police chief, Gunther (Ross Guenther), said it was an independent incident and that the police did not believe there were other suspects, and that the state police would do everything they could to ensure social security. Police will step up security at major events in Melbourne in the coming weeks.

(Ian McCartney) McCartney, acting deputy police chief of the Australian Federal Police Department, also said the incident would not pose any other threat to society.

Since Australia upgraded its national terrorist threat on September 12, 2014, Australian police have carried out 36 counter-terrorism operations and filed terrorism-related charges against 85 people. In Australia, involvement in terrorist attacks carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
