A high-end jewelry store in southwest Melbourne was robbed in broad daylight for the second time in three months, injuring the manager.

Police say four "African-looking" men armed with a gun broke into Toorak Village`s IMP jewelry store at less than 1pm on Saturday.

Manager Stevan Morrow, who was hit in the head by a gun butt, is being treated. Fortunately, the injury is not life-threatening.

The robber left in a waiting vehicle. The number of jewels stolen has yet to be counted.

Sitting in the car and seeing the scene, Josie said the men were wearing masks and hoodies and weapons.

"there was a man with a gun. They also had hammers, axe, and bags-apparently the jewels they had stolen. They escaped from the pedestrian walkway, and it was very frightening. " She said.

Police Officer Tim Lambourne said the robbery was horrifying for the store manager and a female employee.

"A criminal took out a gun and used it to hit one of the victims. He was not seriously injured, but the trauma and shock were very serious." He said。

"it`s scary not just for employees, but for eyewitnesses."

The two victims were also present during the last robbery, and the female employee was known to have just returned from anxious sick leave.

He said the robbery lasted "one minute" from beginning to end.

The police tracked 5 to 7 kilometers and finally decided that it was too dangerous to give up.

The store was robbed last October, with three masked hooligans with machetes, baseball bats, hammers and a gun.

Security footage showed three people breaking into the store, breaking display cabinets and grabbing handmade diamond jewels.

At one point a man armed an employee with a gun told him to go to the back of the shop.

The manager rejected the request to open the safe and drove them out of the shop.

The owners of the shop believed that the robbers knew something about the shop. Windows are actually bulletproof, and display cabinets in the store are easier to break.
