Melbourne police reportedly found a gun, knives and brass knuckles after a search of two Chinese-born homes. Police have charged two people with drug trafficking and possession of drugs. The two Chinese nationals have appeared in local courts.
Melbourne police raided a man and a woman's apartment on the south bank of (Southbank) on Wednesday and seized five illegal drugs and weapons, the Australian news agency reported. The two Chinese suspects appeared in Melbourne District Court (Melbourne Magistrates Court) on Thursday.
Kane (Cain Quah, 30, and Ruby (Ruby Lin, 26, each facing 18 charges, appeared in court on Thursday.
They were charged with illicit trafficking in cocaine, psychedelic drugs, and large quantities of methamphetamine (commonly known as methamphetamine), illegal possession of the three drugs, as well as "fairy water" GHB and heroin.
Police also seized a pistol, two butterfly knives, a swing stick and some knuckles in their apartment.
Neither man applied to Melbourne District Court for bail, but Lin's lawyer said his client would apply for bail on January 18. The lawyer said it was the first time his client, Ms. Lin, had problems with drug abuse, asthma and anxiety.
The man surnamed Ko also has a history of drug abuse, but he has successfully abstained from drug abuse. The man will appear again on March 25.
