Wang Zongjian, a Chinese-American multimillionaire businessman who officially announced his candidacy for Melbourne`s mayor on Friday, said the city council needed "stability" after Robert Doyle (Robert Doyle) left office.

Wang Zongjian, a former planning chairman and member of the city council for eight years, said he would run for the mayoral by-election in May and, if elected, would be Melbourne`s second Chinese mayor.

Doyle resigned after being investigated by the city for sexual harassment charges. But Mr. Doyle, Melbourne`s mayor for nine years, has consistently denied allegations of sexual harassment against him.

"after all these turbulence, I will be able to bring stability to the city." Mr. Wang said his business includes babysitting services, rural real estate and wine, which have brought him millions of dollars in wealth.

Having two children, Wang, a longtime councilman in Murben, also announced his candidacy for mayor during the 2016 local government election, with the fourth-most popular vote in the first round.

On Thursday, after he officially announced his candidacy for mayor of Melbourne, Sally Karp (Sally Capp), head of (Property Council), a developer lobby group, also announced that she would run for office.

Ms. Karp said she would not receive campaign donations from developers, but that did not stop another potential candidate from criticizing her.

"if Melbourne really votes for a real estate council candidate, they really should check their heads." Phil Kleri (Phil Cleary) said.

"it`s not about Sally Karp herself. She`s just going to be a captive to a powerful department in Melbourne."

Government, the state labour party, sees Karp as a safe alternative to Doyle, after a long history of co-operation with the state`s previous government.

If she is elected, Ms Karp will be Melbourne`s third female mayor.

Pollster and businessman Gary Morgan (Gary Morgan) also plans to compete for the $193070-a-year job. The Greens have not yet announced their candidates, but they are sure to run.

Kleri is likely to announce his candidacy as well, although he has yet to show his preference. But Kleri took part in the 2016 election for Doyle and is likely to highlight issues including the abandonment of Queen Victoria`s market reconstruction plan.

Brunswick`s Labour state congressman, Jane Garrett (Jane Garrett), also said she might run for mayor.

Some speculated that Footy Show star Sam Newman (Sam Newman) might also run, but when the Times contacted Newman on Thursday, he did not respond.

Footy Show host Eddie McGuire (Eddie McGuire) was once seen as a possible candidate, and he did not rule out the possibility of running on Wednesday.

Nominations are due to close on April 10, so speculation about other candidates is likely to continue.

Karp has served on Melbourne`s board of chief executive officers and has worked for professional services firm KPMG, the (KPMG), Victorian Tourism Council, and the Victoria Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

This time, she will run as an independent, after being appointed by the Liberal Party`s government and Labour Party`s government. When asked about former party membership, she said she needed to check if she had ever been a member of the Liberal Party.

"addressing the impact of population growth, providing a major infrastructure and managing a range of social issues" is the main challenge she faces after her election, Karp said.
