In 2016, a 58-year-old Chinese woman, Chen Pei-wen, also known as Pei-Wen Chen, was killed and the body was stuffed in a suitcase and thrown into the Perth Swan River, the (Swan River) River, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Her former Singapore husband, (Ah Ping Ban, is currently sentenced to life in prison for at least 20 years for murder. Their 27-year-old daughter, Wan Yiting (Tiffany Yiting Wan, was sentenced to four years and 10 months for attempting to cover up the crime.

Wan Yaping, 69, was convicted in September of murder Chen Peiwen.

On July 2, 2016, two fishermen found a floating suitcase in the swan river in (East Fremantle), East Freeman, Perth, in which a half-naked body had been beaten on the head and face.

The identity of the deceased remained a mystery for the next two months. The breakthrough came after Wan Yiting reported her mother`s disappearance to police. Wan Yiting made up a fictional story claiming that she was walking out of her apartment and in a white car the last time she saw her mother. The driver was an Asian-looking man.

Police finally confirmed that the dead woman in the suitcase was Chen Pei-wen.

Wan Yiting was accused of working with her father, Wan Yaping, with her mother, murder Chen Pei-wen. His parents were reported to have divorced in 2000, when Wan Yaping was based in Singapore.

Earlier this year, the two men and daughters went to the High Court of Western Australia at (WA Supreme Court), accusing each other of being responsible for the death of Chen Pei-wen.

Wan Yi-ting choked in tears during her testimony, claiming that her father had told herself that he had attacked Chen Pei-wen in a money dispute after his visit to Perth, in which a paper weight made of cast iron had been used.

Wan Yiting has denied involvement in the disposal of her mother`s body, but admitted to texting her after her death and lying to the police to cover up the crime. She claimed to have done what she could, including a $135000 transfer to Wan Yaping, when she loved and worshipped her father and felt that she could not betray him.

Ms. Wan argued that her daughter had told herself that she had killed her mother in her bedroom before the University of Melbourne`s (University of Melbourne) graduation, after arguing with her mother over the ceremony. Wan Yaping also claimed earlier that the two men together disposed of Chen Pei-wen`s body. In the process of dumping, he claimed to have fallen into the water and lost presbyopic glasses. The glasses were later found by police divers.

After nearly a week of deliberations, the jury rejected Mr. Wan`s claim and found him guilty of murder. Wan Yi-ting was convicted as an accomplice to the crime.

It is reported that Wan Yaping will be eligible for parole by 2036, and Wan Yiting may be released in July 2019.
