The Australian Federal government is considering reducing the overall level of immigration and increasing the proportion of skilled immigrants, the Australian Federation news agency reported.

It is reported that the review of Australia`s immigration quota ceiling is about to begin.

Australia now has one hundred and ninety thousand annual permanent immigration quotas and is expected to cut as many as 30, 000 later.

At the same time, the government is also considering increasing the acceptance rate of highly skilled immigrants in terms of receiving migrants. Under the new adjustment plan, the government hopes to accept "exceptional strikers" who can make a positive contribution to Australia`s economy.

The reform plan is expected to be announced as soon as December. But it will not be implemented until next July.

The news came after government suggested that migrants should be forced to live in remote areas of Australia`s struggling economy for five years in order to secure permanent residency.

Prime Minister Credit Mosuisse (Scott Morrison) also suggested that new requirements for non-permanent visas should be implemented in order to ensure the success of the program. "if you have a non-permanent visa and want to get the right to permanent residence in this country but do not abide by your non-permanent visa terms, then you will not be granted a permanent visa and you will have to go back to your home." Said Morrison.

Internal affairs minister (Peter Dutton) said government was also considering additional measures to encourage migrants to live in remote areas. "there are some remote villages and towns in [Australia], such as Kunzhou, where the abattoir cannot remain open without an immigrant labor force," he said.

It is reported that Australia`s last reduction in immigration quotas in 2010.
