Herald Sun reported that Xinzhou officially identified a woman as the fifth case of new coronavirus pneumonia.
New State Health Officer Dr Nicole Chant claimed the woman had been infected on the way to the last flight of MU749 from Wuhan to Sydney last week.
"She received a security leaflet at the airport and was specifically informed that if you feel unwell, please refer to the symptoms on the leaflet for medical help," she said.
Dr Chant said the woman had symptoms and aggravated within 24 hours and was then quickly sent to Westmead Hospital.
"The emergency department has taken the right steps and doctors have worn the right protective measures," she said.
According to an email from the University of New South Wales, the woman was diagnosed as a student of UNSW.
The e-mail said the student did not attend school, lived alone in the campus dormitory and had no contact with others before being taken to hospital.
