A man and a friend were asked to stop smoking. The man was convicted of killing a doctor outside the hospital.

Patrick Pritzwald-Stegmann was injured in the head by Joseph Esmaili in (Box Hill) Hospital, Huaxin District, Melbourne in May 2017.

The 41-year-old doctor`s life support apparatus was turned off four weeks later.

Esmaili, 24, pleaded not guilty to manslaughter, but the jury found him guilty today four weeks after the Melbourne High Court heard the case.

Court learned that Mr. Pritzwald-Stegmann was in the no-smoking zone outside the hospital and asked Mr. Esmaili and a group of his friends not to smoke, after which conflict took place in the hospital hall on the night of the crime.

Esmaili`s friend Corey Rogers says one of them told the doctor to get out of here and Pritzwald-Stegmann went in and called for security.
