Less than an hour ago, a police officer in downtown Melbourne was knocked down by an escaped driver.
At about 03:30, a police officer on a motorcycle was knocked down by a driver while trying to pull over a car before dozens of police officers arrived at the junction of Collins St and Russell St.
There were more than 20 police officers, 10 police vehicles and ambulances.
In an attempt to escape, the driver also ran over the police officer`s motorcycle.
The dramatic crash occurred opposite the Hyatt Hotel (Grand Hyatt Hotel) on Russell Street, opposite the intersection between LV and Gucci.
Police officers at the scene told reporters that the scene was very dangerous and that the road could be closed for 24 hours.
The motorbike of the officer was still lying on the road.
The front bumper of the escape car also fell off the sidewalk.
Pedestrians were told that the intersection had been blocked, two-way roads were temporarily closed and cars and trams were stranded.

The man was arrested not far from the scene, and the police who were knocked down were being treated for minor injuries.
