An Australian man was arrested for breaching a community correction order after returning to Australia for stealing robes in Thailand for nearly a year.

On July 19, Australian man Villa (Steven Villa) returned to Australia from Thailand on Friday after being arrested for violating a community correction order, the Australian News Network reported.

The next day, Villa appeared in Melbourne District Court (Melbourne Magistrate Court). Prosecution Adams (Geoff Adams) said Villa was arrested after arriving in Thailand in September 2018 because of previous robes theft in the country. Villa was sentenced to two years` probation by the detain until April this year.

Villa thought the matter had been taken care of, trying to leave Thailand, but was stopped by Thai police and arrest. Vera was then detained in a Thai immigration detention center for three weeks and returned to Australia after contacting the Australian Immigration Service.

The court did not approve Villa`s bail application because of violations of five arrest orders related to community correction orders.

"I`m not trying to evade responsibility," Villa argued.

Villa was said to have been sentenced to 250 hours of community service, 80 hours after leaving Australia. Villa can leave Australia, but requires a report to the local police station, which he violated while in Thailand.

Vera is now engaged to a Thai woman and her fiancee is three months pregnant. He hopes to bring his fiancee and unborn children back to Australia.

Villa is currently subject to two accusation items, one for stealing store property and the other for failing to comply with bail rules. He will appear in Heidelberg District Court (Heidelberg Magistrates Court) on August 1.
