Last weekend, Australia's east coast weather suddenly changed, heavy rain suddenly fell. In just 48 hours, the states were hit by more than 2.24 million lightning strikes.

Heavy rains and winds of up to 100 km/h raged in several states, and volunteers received hundreds of calls for help.

The Australian Weather Service said the vast majority of the 2.24 million lightning strikes took place in Queensland, New State and North Territory and that the storm is expected to continue this week.
