Last year, the number of tourists visiting Victoria reached a record high, with overseas tourists growing faster than Australia's overall growth rate.
Nearly 3 million overseas visitors came to Victoria in 2017, up 8% from the previous year. The tourists contributed A $7.7 billion to the state's economy, up 11% from the previous year.
The latest findings of the International tourist Survey of Australia's Tourism Research show that Australia's tourism boom continues, with overseas tourists spending a record 41.3 billion in Australia.
Melbourne is the top priority for 95 percent of Victoria's 2.7 million overseas visitors since 2017, but Ocean Road has also attracted nine hundred and ninety thousand overseas visitors, up 12 percent from the previous year.

Melbourne's must-see attractions include downtown shopping (1.8 million visitors), Queen Victoria Market (1.4 million) and Commonwealth Square (1.2 million). China is once again at the top of the list of visitors (622, 000) and spending (A $2.7 billion).
Chinese tourists to Lowe increased by 9% and their spending increased by 14%.
Tourists from Japan increased by 33 percent, Indian tourists by 23 percent and Switzerland by 18 percent.
In 2017, 233,000 visitors came from the United States, spending A $331 million.
Almost all Australia's states and territories have seen an increase in overseas tourists.
Federal Tourism Secretary Steven Ciobo said record numbers and spending were "great for Victoria" and created new jobs.
