355 Church St, Hay NSW 2711, Australia

Introduction of Hay Gaol Museum

Hay Gaol Museum is in the small town of Hay in the Riverina region in southeastern NSW.

Hay Gao Museum covers an area of about 3 hectares, including a group of historic buildings, which have been used for many purposes since its establishment in 1878, such as prisons, maternity hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, war detention centres, girls'schools, etc., and were converted into museums open to the public in 1976.

Hay Gao Museum shows a lot of artifacts, archives and pictures related to the local history, the gardens in the museum are a good place to have dinners, and the museum is also the place for Hay area residents to celebrate on Australia Day.
