Great Keppel Island is an island in (Capricorn Coast) on the eastern Capricorn coast of Queensland, covering an area of about 14.5 square kilometers, the largest of the eighteen islands of (The Keppels) in the Keppel Islands, and the nearest town is Yeppoon,. The straight line is about 15 kilometers away.
Great Keppel Island was discovered by the famous Captain James Cook (Captain James Cook) in April 1770 and named after the then Admiral.
Great Keppel Island, now part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park (Great Barrier Reef Marine Park), boasts 27 kilometres of high-quality beaches and pleasant tropical climates, and nearby waters are known for their vast coral reefs and a wide variety of fish, suitable for beach snorkeling.
