Keynes is not alone in the Great Barrier Reef: recommendations for Land-based activity arrangements

 04 Jan 2019

A lot of people come to Australia to consider whether to put the Cairns on the itinerary and think it might not be worth flying all the way to see the Great Barrier Reef (Great Barrier Reef). Keynes, in addition to the Great Barrier Reef, has a lot of landscape and activities that can't be seen in other parts of Australia and even in other countries. Keynesian regions want to play deeper, especially for adventurous people, who don't seem to be well off for a week. The following post introduces Keynes' popular tourist areas and activities.

Kuranda (Kuranda)

The hippy town of Kuranda, hidden in the rainforest, is arguably Keynes' most popular attraction outside the Great Barrier Reef, with several local bazaars and many wonderful restaurants. The most classic route is to take the rainforest cable car (Skyrail Rainforest Cableway), one of the longest cable cars in the world, a 7.5km ropeway across the rainforest to have a lunch in the town and take a stroll to the bazaar. You can also go to Koranda Garden (Kuranda Koala Gardens) hug koala feed kangaroo, and take the 2-hour Kuranda sightseeing train (Kuranda Scenic Railway) back to Keynes in the afternoon. Both the cable car and the train have a close view of the rainforest, in which the two stations in the middle of the cable car can come down, walk along the plank track, or take part in a hike led by the local indigenous people. The train sits down through rainforests and tunnels and stops to enjoy Baron Falls.

If you want to take a cable car to Koranda, you can buy a ticket including Keynes to the cable station shuttle bus, and the sightseeing train will leave directly from the train station in the center of Keynes.

If you do not want to take a cable car or train, only visit Curanda, you can take the round trip bus provided by Trans North bus company, ticket 6.50 Australian dollars. Check in at the downtown Keynesian shopping centre (railway station) or in front of the city's orchid square (Orchid Plaza), timetable: http://www.transnorthbus.com/cairnskuranda.asp

Danui Rainforest (Daintree Rainforest)

A two-hour drive from Keynes, the Danrui rainforest is a more primitive rainforest, 35 million years old. Not only is it one of the oldest tropical rainforests in the world, it also gathers the most animal and plant species on earth. There are many hiking trails in the rainforest, and there are boats that take you to see wild crocodiles. The rainforest, to the east, is the endless South Pacific, and therefore the only place in the world where the rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef.

The Danrui rainforest requires a four-wheel drive and good off-road driving skills when it comes to easy self-driving, as far as the point of distress (Cape Tribulation), is headed north. Several companies offer one or more day trips by cross-country buses that include alligator-feeding and rainforest high-altitude choreography. Staying in a rain forest hotel or camping site for a night or two is also a good choice.

Atherton Plateau (Atherton Tablelands)

The Atherton Plateau is located in the high mountains of the western Keynesian interior, with countless canyons and waterfalls, many of which have clear pools beneath them. Jumping in for a swim and even sitting on a natural water slide along a rock slope is an entertainment for locals and tourists. If you have two to three days, rent a RV with your friends, drive around the Atherton Plateau and have a lot of car camps to spend the night. There are lots of pastures and orchards on the plateau, so there are lots of small shops selling fresh yogurt, cheese and nuts along the road.

Tali River (Tully River)

White water drifting on the Tali River is arguably Keynes' most enjoyable day, with more than 100 visitors per day during the peak season. The Tali River is famous among the world's rafting and kayaking circles and is Australia's best commercial drifting ground. A day of rafting runs through nearly 30 torrential currents, some of which can jump off the boat and float in the water with a lifejacket, enjoy an Australian bbq barbecue burger at noon, and continue drifting in the afternoon. Each raft is led by a drifting coach, and all guests wear helmets and lifejackets, so no drifting experience, no swimming and no problems. There are also professional photographers who take pictures at several large torrential currents.

If time is tight or you find the whole day drifting too exciting, try the relatively low-difficulty Baron River (Barron River) half-day drifting, which is better for the whole family.

fire balloon

Keynes' hot air balloon is located on the Atherton Plateau, and the rolling range blocks most of the wind and rain. So the climate is good for hot air balloons all year round (of course, occasional weather that is not fit for flight will be cancelled for safety reasons). At about 04:30, guests will be picked up from the hotel in time to take off when the first ray of light appears, and the sun can be seen in the sky from the mist-shrouded alpine prairie. You can also condescending to see the early morning foraging kangaroos.

bungee, bungee jumping

The Oakland bungee tower, (AJ Hackett Cairns), is not built between canyons, but by a pond on a hillside in the middle of the rainforest, standing at the top of the tower and looking at the vast sea. Bungee jumping here may not be as famous as New Zealand, but it creates a lot of "the only in the world." This is the only place in the world that can offer as many as 16 bungee jumping methods, and the only place in the world where you can fly off the bungee tower on a BMX bike. They even offer a full-day bungee jumping package for bungee addicts. In addition, there are 3 people at the same time, up to 120 kilometers per hour of super swing can play.

Horse riding and four-wheeled motorcycle

The north of Keynes has a large area of sugar cane fields and wetlands, and Blazing Saddles Adventures-run horseback riding or four-wheel cross-country biking is a good way to reach the area. Both activities are inexperienced, horse-riding activities are more casual and suitable for family participation, while cross-country motorcycles can be splashed with mud, but the team leader will find a balance between safety and excitement. The event included an Australian-style bbq roast sausage and coffee and tea diet. If you're lucky, you can see wild crocodiles.

brolly hop

Jump from the plane at 14000 feet, experience a free fall for at least 60 seconds, enjoy a 5-to-7-minute parachute flight, take a bird's eye view of the boundless sea and dense rainforest from above, and then land on the beach.

Hummer Plateau Night Tou

If the end of the day trip is still early, you can take part in the evening Hummer Land Cruiser ride through the rainforest with rock kangaroos. Pick up guests from the hotel at 06:30 in the evening and take them to Hummer Camp near Curanda, where you can taste grilled kangaroo and crocodile sausage by the campfire, or roast cotton candy to taste Australia's distinctive Belgian tea. Then transfer to a real Hummer H1 military Land Cruiser into the rainforest, and the final result will be the kangaroo valley (Granite Gorge), feeding wild rock kangaroos under the starry night (food is provided by the event organizers). The trip ended around 10:30 in the evening.

Hummer night tour company called: INTERNATIONAL COACHES & TOURS, activity page introduction: http://internationalcoachesandtours.com.au/cairns-hummer-tours

All of Keynes's travel projects, including hot air balloons, are available from the Queensland tourist Information Center, the front desk or travel desk of hotels and backpackers. And a Chinese travel agency located next to the night market or near the Lake St (woolworths supermarket.
