Goverment, Victoria, will amend its bail law after the Bourke St massacre in Melbourne.
In the wake of the Bourke St tragedy, the state of goverment, as part of a revision of the justice system to make the state more secure, will set up a night court of judges.
Murder suspect Dimitriout Gargasoulas was released by a bail court a few days before driving into a pedestrian on Friday.
As a result, five people died and more than 30 were injured.
In announcing the change, the state governor said the tragedy would raise legitimate questions and deep anger.
"how do we all think this is going to happen? How could this happen in Melbourne? So many lives and so many lives have changed in this way? " He said。
He said that while the bail system had been modified in the two-year release of his government, it was clear that we needed further improvement.
"We need to carefully review every element of the bail system, and we need to make sure that the state is safer," he said.
He said a night court might be set up to consider bail applications for those accused of violence.
Currently, the bail court in Victoria is made up of trained volunteers, provided it is Australian citizens and not bankrupt.
"We think it`s more appropriate for those more serious crimes to be decided by a court of judges than by volunteers," he said.
