First Australian evacuees arrive on Christmas Island, second to New Zealand

Australians evacuated from Wuhan, China, arrived at WA`s Air Force base yesterday afternoon.

The first batch of more than 200 australian citizens and permanent residents withdrawn from wuhan have been sent to christmas island, and the second batch of australians stranded in wuhan will soon be evacuated to new zealand via charter flights from new zealand government.

The first Australians were said to have been transferred from mainland to christmas island in four batches, before landing this morning.

Although the 240 people sent to christmas island showed no signs of a new type of coronavirus, they still needed to be quarantined there for 14 days to determine that they would not pose any health risk, according to australian ap. A team of medical experts and nurse are closely monitoring their health.

But according to The Aussies,238 people were sent to Christmas Island, with two couples withdrawn from China not sent to Christmas Island, but from Learmonth Air Force base to Perth by the Royal Flight Doctor Service (RFDS).

The two allegedly showed no signs of the new coronavirus, but because the woman was a pregnant woman and was about to give birth, authorities believed it was risky to send her to christmas island without a maternity ward.

Australia`s autharies had expected 243 people to evacuate from wuhan, but only 240 later boarded.

The National Emergency Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC) monitors the health of these people, noting that health workers on Christmas Island reported that all evacuees were in good condition.

"They didn`t show signs of contracting the virus, and everything went well, hoping to get what they wanted, they didn`t show signs of contracting the virus, and they returned to their country, Australia,14 days later," NCCTRC CEO Len Notaras told ABC radio this morning. "

Mr notalas also said authorities was careful to house the evacuees in family or friends. This allows health workers to effectively control any new coronavirus emergency and prevent the virus from spreading widely among evacuees.

He also stressed that the facilities used to house these people on Christmas Island would meet all people`s needs.

"I wouldn`t say that`s good for health, but modernity and cleanliness. "

Meanwhile, more than 100 australians are expected to evacuate from wuhan to auckland on a charter flight from new zealand government.

New zealand`s ministry of foreign affairs and trade noted that new zealand`s charter flights had left and were also scheduled to fly to wuhan after a brief stop in hong kong.

China`s autharies have allegedly approved the flight landing in wuhan overnight beijing time and are expected to return to auckland tomorrow afternoon.

The number and nationality of passengers on the New Zealand flight have not been confirmed, but will include New Zealanders and Pacific Islanders in addition to the Australians.

It is unclear what arrangements autharies will make for the australians when they arrive in auckland. They may be quarantined locally or sent back to Australia.

So far, there have been 12 cases of newly diagnosed coronary pneumonia in Australia.

Australia or second charter flights to China

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Australia may send another Qantas charter flight to Wuhan to pick up Australians stranded there.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said today that Australia`s government is in talks with China`s Authoritatives on "the possibility of dispatching a second flight to assist with the evacuation."

Speaking earlier today about flights to New Zealand that would also assist the Australian evacuation, Mr Morrison said he was discussing the matter with New Zealand government and that how many Australians could board depends on the number of seats.

However, if Australia and China can agree on Australia`s additional charter flights, it means Australians do not need to be sent to New Zealand to isolate them.

Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne also said today that government remained a priority in evacuating the most vulnerable and isolated Australians," including children, especially infants, and the elderly, as well as short-term visitors who have no one to rely on in China. "

"We will do our best to keep the whole family together. "
