A man shot at a three-year-old daughter in central Adelaide on Monday night, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
The man allegedly attacked the 23-year-old mother, a seven-month-old son, at his home in Cumberland Park three hours ago.
The 26-year-old man, now treated at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, is not in danger.
He also allegedly assaulted two men trying to help the mother and forced the family to board. At nearly 9 o`clock the police received the police, but no details of the car.
An hour later, they finally identified the car, and a police helicopter sent out to track the high-speed car. Police stopped the car on Hindley Street with the help of a roadblock at 11:30 and tried to arrest the man.
"as the police approached the man, the man threatened to point his weapon at the head of the three-year-old girl, and a police officer decided to shoot him," Assistant Director General Paul Dickson told reporters.
Surveillance video shows the police pulling the sad mother out of the car, then taking the baby out, finally rescuing the little girl and taking them to safety. The police swarmed around the car and a man crossed the hood to control the gunman.
Eyewitness Ammar Hady told reporters, "the police showed up from all sides and kept the car airtight." They tried to open the door, but the man did not open it, so they smashed the window with a hammer and opened the door to save the child, and I heard a gunshot. "
Both children are safe, but Mr Dickson says "they both suffered mental trauma."
The child`s mother was treated in another hospital after she was wounded by her father.
"it`s a bad thing," Mr. Dickson said. "it`s hard to imagine what would have happened to the two children and the mother."
The investigation is still under way.
