Adelaide people opposed the construction of mosques, raising money for litigation

According to the Daily Mail, (Shia Muslims), a Muslim in Adelaide, South Australia, applied last year for a new mosque and cemetery in (Pooraka), in the north, and was approved by the Salisbury City Council (City of Salisbury) in February this year. Incensed the local population.

The South Australian Citizen Association, (Concerned Citizens of South Australia), filed an appeal with the Environmental Resources Development Court, (Environment, Resources and Development Court), in the hope that the court would revoke permission to develop the mosque project.

The South Australian Citizenship Association also launched a fundraising campaign on Go Fund Me in the hope of raising legal fees for litigation. The fund-raising page was accompanied by a photo of graffiti on the site of the mosque project, but there was no evidence that the South Australian Citizen Association was responsible for the graffiti. The fund-raising target is A $8000, and so far the campaign has received only A $640 in three weeks.

The South Australian Citizen Association, Somblis (Brad Tsombris), said it was concerned about the impact of Islamist militants on the region.

The owner, Ollie (John O`Leary), had rejected a A $1.79 million offer from an Islamic businessman for a planned sale of a horse racing centre not far from the site of the mosque project. Ollie said he was extremely concerned about the Muslim population and related criminal activities in places such as Sydney.

Ollie also said that some local Christians, afraid of Muslims, have applied for gun permits to buy guns to defend themselves.
