Sydney-based train (Sydney Trains) warned passengers to expect severe delays in train, according to Radio 9 and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. A western line is now under repair after a vehicle hit a signal facility in southern Sydney.
At about 2:00 this morning, a Honda (Honda Acord) broke through the barbed wire and crashed into a signal box at the junction of (Romilly) on Rwood (Riverwood) Romili Road and (Broadarrow Road) on Brode Arrow Road. It is only 300 meters away from Reiwood train Station.
When St. George`s District Command (St George Police Area Command) officers arrived at the scene, the driver fled the scene. Speaker, the new state police, said in a statement that "the vehicle was towed and is undergoing forensic examination."
Collins (Howard Collins), chief executive of Sydney-based train, said the accident had caused "serious damage" to the signal relay room and that "significant delays were expected on the lines."
Sydney-based train said the airport, Nexi and Leipington (Leppington) lines would be affected.
At present, the company has deployed additional customer service personnel to assist passengers and arranged a number of buses in key areas to ease traffic congestion.
As of 7: 00 am this morning, the airport line part of the train flight is more than an hour and a half late.
At around 10:00, there were further delays in the Sydney train network: due to the discovery of objects on the rail near (Wentworthville), Wentworth, the train on the T1 West Line was delayed; Clyde (Clyde) signal equipment maintenance work, but also caused the delay in the relevant line.
Collins said the box is an important device, "which contains thousands of wires that control the area signal," and "takes 48 hours to replace and reconnect the signal box."
