A Chinese citizen has admitted to operating a secret marijuana plantation at a house in (Singleton), Newcastle Herald reported.

Hong Yuru, 28, was brought up via video from a prison in Sydney when the Newcastle District Court (Newcastle Local Court) heard the case on Wednesday. Its representative, lawer, is Mach (0Kate Maher).

Hong, with the help of a Mandarin translator, admitted the charge of participating in planting a certain number of prohibited plants under the knowledge. The Office of the Public Prosecutor(DPP)had earlier agreed to revoke the more serious charges against Mr. Hong, namely, the supply of the commercial quantities and the increase of plants indoors for commercial purposes. A crime of supplying a commercial number of marijuna can be sentenced to 20 years` imprisonment.

Hong Yuru will appear again at the Newcastle District Court (Newcastle District Court) on July 18 to set a date for sentencing later this year.

At about 7: 00 a.m. on December 7 last year, Hunter Valley (Hunter Valley) police searched Hong Yuru`s residence on Boundary Street in Singhleton District. They found a marijuana plantation in the house, including 177 marijuana plants and equipment to grow marijuana.

During a surprise operation, police said the house had been converted into a hydroponic place to grow marijuana.

Hong Yuru has been in custody since he was arrested.
