About 50, 000 new immigrant families in Australia, including 11,000 children, may have to wait three years before receiving some benefits, according to Radio 9.

It is reported that the government submitted a reform bill to Parliament. Under the Act, new immigrant residents have to wait three years before receiving family tax benefits, (family tax benefit), maternity benefits, (paid parental leave), and caregivers' allowances, (Carers Allowance). Benefits, including the "New start (Newstart)" and the Youth Allowance (Youth Allowance), will also be extended from two to three years.

By passing the reform bill, the government will save A $1.3 billion, which, if passed, will take effect from July 1.

By 2021, 50, 000 families will have to wait a while to receive category A family tax benefits, the Social Services Department (Department of Social Services) said at a parliamentary hearing on Thursday. About 30, 000 people will have to wait for some time on other benefits.

Labour Senator Kenny (Kristina Keneally), on the other hand, questions how many people come to Australia through skilled immigration status to deny them these types of benefits and encourage them to become self-sufficient.

Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, the social services secretary, said skilled migrants could position themselves in a position of self-sufficiency through jobs, available resources or family support. He pointed out that many people came to Australia, did not receive a penny of support allowance, but now also ranks among Australia's richest people.

In addition, it can be confirmed that the government did not consult immigration groups before presenting the bill to Parliament.
