A selfless couple donated 30 million Australian dollars to the University of Melbourne`s scholarship program for the next 40 years, the largest donation ever made in Mexico.
After earning money in real estate, the couple, Paul and Jane, founded the Hansen Little Foundation in 2015 under the husband and wife`s surname, and recently donated it to Mozambican University for student dormitories and scholarship programs.
Starting in 2020, 20 students will be chosen each year for the scholarship and will be able to live in new dormitories free of charge. The new dormitory will accommodate 669 students.
The scholarship will provide an excellent opportunity for students in difficult circumstances, and Jane says the path of life should be determined by one`s goals and ambitions. The scholarship will broaden students` horizons and encourage them to reshape their dreams and future.
As early as 2015, they donated 10 million Australian dollars to the History Department and pledged 3.5 million Australian dollars in 2017 to upgrade the Victoria State Library.
The same philanthropic gift took place at Newcastle University, where the donor was Jack Ma`s father. Just last year, during his visit to Australia, he waved a donation of A $26 million to set up the Ma & Morley Scholarship Program. The Ma & Morley Scholarship Program is unique in Australian higher education. It will fund students of aboriginal Australian ancestry, students from amblyopia groups, and especially well-performing students. The program will also provide scholarship recipients with comprehensive opportunities for communication and further studies, help them build important networking, and help them improve their leadership skills in the global environment through hands-on training.
Thirty Newcastle college students are now among the first beneficiaries of the scholarship program, and there is no doubt that their lives will change.
It is hoped that these funds will help more students in need of help and cultivate more understanding, tolerance, and social responsibility.
