Suspect`s identity exposed.

The terrorist`s name, Hassan (Hassan Khalif Shire Ali), is reported to be a 30-year-old activist incited by the ISIS (IS) group, born in Somalia, came to Australia in the 1990s and now lives in Melbourne.

Hassan`s younger brother, Ali (Ali Khalif Shire Ali), is on remand in prison on suspicion of premeditating a mass massacre in Union Square (Federation Square) on New year`s Eve, charged with terrorism. Hassan was listed by the police as "(Person of Interest)," a person who may have been involved in the case.

(ASIO), the Australian security intelligence agency, also knew of his men and had received information that Hassan intended to travel to Syria. His passport was therefore cancelled in 2015.

However, McCartney (Ian McCartney), head of the Australian Federal Police`s (AFP) National counter-Terrorism Department, admitted today that the police had previously known Hassan to be radical, but did not think he would constitute a serious threat. The suspect`s wife is also believed to have been radicalized and has been questioned by police.

At about 4:10 yesterday, Hassan drove a Horton (Holden) pickup truck carrying a gas tank to a Target store on Burke Street, set fire to the car and then attacked passers-by and police with a knife.

Victims and "civilian heroes"
