Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane Top 10 most livable cities revealed Several of the three major Australian cities are listed near the city centre, along with Sydney`s North and Eastern Districts, Melbourne`s trendy Inner North and Brisbane`s Riverside District.

According to Domain`s website, the Deloitte Access Economics and the Contact consultancy recently selected the most livable urban areas in each city after studying more than 1,100 urban areas in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The list takes into account the number and quality of cafes and restaurants in each city, open space, tree coverage, aircraft noise and ease of movement. Sub-items include being close to the beach or the coast to enjoy views of the sea, rivers, etc.

Several of the three major Australian cities are listed near the city centre, along with Sydney`s North and Eastern Districts, Melbourne`s trendy Inner North and Brisbane`s Riverside District.

Milsons Point ranks first, with its Walkability, aircraft noise issues, sea views, culture, employment and public transport networks all scoring the highest; and it is also highly rated for convenience in shopping, school networks, open spaces, shade, and accessibility to the coast and beaches.

Seven out of the top 10 are in the lower north bank, two in the east bank, and the rest in sydney city centre.

South Yarra took the top spot on the Melbourne list. South Yarra has excelled at a number of indicators, including cafes, train, trams, employment and walking.
