The new on-demand shuttle bus will carry passengers near Elizabeth Vale as early as Sept. 1.

Last year, the Playford City Council resolved a long-standing parking problem around Lyell McEwin Hospital.

Supported by a $ three hundred and fifty thousand grant from the state government,

A meeting was held with EasyMile, a French driverless bus company, and a service agreement was agreed.

On July 24, the South Australian government signed an agreement with Australian transit groups (Transit Australia Group) and EasyMile to ship self-driving or self-driving cars to South Australia.

The Playford City Council will hold the first test run of these self-driving buses in South Australia in the near future.

The CEO of EasyMile said:

"for our self-driving car technology, South Australia is the perfect `test-bed` and we are eager to invest in and develop a new workforce."

EasyMile also plans to expand driverless shuttle buses throughout South Australia.

The project is divided into two phases:

The first phase, which begins on September 1, will be a 15-seat driverless bus between the hospital and the old Holden parking lot.

In the second phase, six months from now, a larger shuttle bus will be on the road, connecting the Elizabeth to the new Playford CBD.

Mayor Playford said: "We are still in talks with all parties and hope to donate the larger bus to Playford, and make it operational for the long term."
